Seminars and conferences
We will be holding seminars on topics of interest to primary practitioners and want to know from you what would be most useful. Please indicate which topics would be of interest to you, and leave any comments on seminars that you would like to attend. Interest has suggested;
- Marketing school improvement services - this will include costing models and structures, marketing your services, and how to produce services based on demand.
- Curriculum - this will explore innovative approaches to curriculum design and implementation
- Academy freedoms and building capacity - this will help you to make the most out of the academy freedoms and make them work for your school. We will also look at strategies to help you to build capacity within your school.

- You and your governors can learn more about academy conversion, running an academy with the new freedoms you have and developing a chain.
- Your school can buy and sell school improvement services to each other which are quality assured by other headteachers.
- You will be part of a network where you can share best practice and solutions.
- You will be linked into a network of teaching schools to access their services and have help to become a teaching school if you want.
What is the National Primary Academy Alliance?
Many headteachers who have converted or who are considering it may feel uncertain and somewhat isolated within their area. Some have to convert with a sponsor or support and are not sure where to turn. We are contacted as individual headteachers regularly by primary schools who want to find out more about the journey. The NPAA provides a structure so everyone knows where to turn when they want help. Financially more has to be achieved with less. New leadership models are being developed which are not fully tested. There is a need for a network to spread the word about what works well and develop a strong school-to-school support structure so that you can easily find a school that delivers the service you need. Nationally primary schools need a voice when policy and strategy is being developed and we will fill that gap.
What do we stand for?
Primary schools now have the power to take control of their school improvement and help each other to become and stay outstanding. The education system is becoming free of the tick box approaches to school improvement and headteachers can decide for themselves what is needed to raise standards and improve pupil’s development. We have the needs of primary age children at the heart of the organisation and as headteachers of outstanding schools we are involved in the process of Academy conversion and sponsorship.
NPAA Founder members include primary schools which have been academies for some time as well as those early on in considering whether this is the right direction for them......
