Outstanding Facilitator Programme

The National College, in partnership with the Department for Education, is looking to recruit up to 360 outstanding teachers to be trained to facilitate the teaching and learning programmes; OTP and ITP

Who is it for?

The programme is open to outstanding teachers with at least three years' experience, who have experience in and are committed to supporting other schools, and improving pupil outcomes. It is expected that two/three facilitators will attend from each participating school. Applicants and their schools will need to meet the defined criteria. What will it do?

The Outstanding Facilitator Programme (OFP) trains outstanding teachers to deliver professional development to other teachers through the teaching and learning programmes.Trained facilitators will deliver both the Outstanding Teacher Programme and Improving Teacher Programme to groups of teachers in their region.

What does it involve?

OFP consists of five main stages:

  • Application
  • Training - Facilitators attend a five-day training session
  • Preparation for delivery of the programmes
  • Programme delivery - Facilitators will deliver the teaching modules for OTP and ITP to groups of teachers in their own school and other schools, within one year of completing the training
  • Assessment - in the form of a Quality Assurance visit

At the five-day training session, facilitators will cover programme content including;

  • Facilitation skills
  • DR ICE, taboo, definitions, concepts
  • Coaching
  • Activities and assessment
  • Evaluation and prepartion for delivery

How do we know it works?

The OFP builds on the success of the teaching and learning programmes in the Black Country, Greater Manchester, and London, leadership strategy areas.
