Outstanding Teacher Programme

Intensive practical and interactive training to empower teachers with the skills, knowledge and confidence to succeed.

Who is it for?

This programme is for teachers who are, or have the potential to be, outstanding. To develop their practice and help them carry out a whole school responsibility for teaching and learning.

What will it do?

The end result is a teacher who can reflect on their teaching with the tools to enable raised levels of engagement in learning, through providing consistently outstanding lessons. An innovate teacher who is willing to take risks.

It will deliver...

An opportunity for teachers to see outstanding teaching in a host school. Demonstrate a higher level of understanding of teaching and improve learning for pupils while providing the techniques to 'coach' colleagues and raise performance.

What does it involve?

Each programme comprises nine sessions over nine weeks, within this there are linked practical tasks back in your own school including applying what you learn and observation in host school.

Participants focus on a range of aspects of teaching and learning such as challenge, engagement, assessment, differentiation, questioning and planning.

Programme content includes:

  • What does an outstanding teacher look like?
  • Taboo, definitions, audit, strengths and weaknesses
  • Coaching
  • In-school practice
  • Developing a success criteria
  • What is effective questioning?
  • New learning on differentiation
  • Understanding assessment
  • Action planning and evaluation
